Reed Named MIAC Player of the Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/15/18)---Concordia senior goalie Maddy Reed was named the MIAC Player of the Week for her shutout performance against regionally-ranked St. Olaf on Saturday.

Reed earns the conference weekly honor for the first time in her career and she becomes the second Cobber player to receive the award this year. Junior Kalli Baarstad was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Sept. 4 for her 3-goal performance vs. Buena Vista and Nebraska Wesleyan.

Reed played a significant role in Concordia's 1-0 double overtime win against regionally-ranked St. Olaf on Saturday. She came away with a career-high 12 saves to record her fifth shutout of the season and 13th of her career.

One of the biggest moments in the game came late in the second half when Reed made a full-out diving stop of a shot that was headed into the top left corner of the net. Reed was able to get a hand on the ball and tip it around the goal post to keep the game tied at 0-0.

The win marked the first time Concordia had beaten the Oles since 2012. St. Olaf entered the game with a 6-game unbeaten streak.

Reed will look to continue her successful ways when the Cobbers play at St. Thomas on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m.
