Early Goals Not Enough

STORY LINE: Concordia scored the first goal in each half but allowed two goals in a span of 1:37 in the first half and then the game winner in the final six minutes of play and lost 3-2 to Gustavus in Moorhead.
The Cobbers tied the game at 2-2 in the ninth minute of the second half but couldn't get the go-ahead score and lost for the second straight home game.

RECORDS: Concordia has their overall record drop to .500 as they are now 3-3. The Cobbers begin conference play at 0-2. The Gusties win for the third time in the last four games and are now 4-2 in all games and 1-0 in the MIAC.

ALRIGHT ABBY: Cobber sophomore Abby Westbee got CC on the board in the eighth minute of play when she headed home a throw-in from Hannah Sandin. The goal was Westbee's first collegiate score while Sandin grabbed her second assist of the year.

KILLER K'S STRIKE AGAIN: While Abby Westbee got the first CC goal it was one of the Cobber "Killer K's" that tied the game early in the second half. Kirsten Bokinskie was able to poke the ball home after a scramble situation in front of the Gustie goal. It was Bokinskie's third goal of the year and she now has nine points for the year. The Cobbers have 18 goals on the year and 13 have come from a player whose first name starts with the letter "K". Oh, and getting one of the assists on Bokinskie's goal – Kalli Baarstad.

STAT STUFF: Concordia was outshot 14-11 in total shots and 9-7 in shots on goal. CC held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Cobber goalie Maddy Reed made four saves in the game.

UP NEXT: Concordia will have a full week to train before their next game. The Cobbers will host Hamline on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. The Pipers are 3-3-1 in all games and 1-1-0 in the MIAC and fell 2-0 at Carleton on Saturday.
