Roos Resigns As Head Coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/10/18)---Concordia women's soccer head coach Kevin Roos announced his resignation on Wednesday due to personal reasons.

Roos had been the Cobber coach since the 2013 season and posted a 45-41-10 overall record. In his five seasons in conference play he accumulated a 25-25-1 record and made the MIAC playoffs on three occasions.

"Kevin was a dedicated and concerned coach, Concordia athletic director Jeff Bretherton said. "He always put the program first and we are very grateful for his years of service to the college and the student/athletes."

Roos was only the sixth coach in the history of the Cobber women's soccer program which began in 1982. He amassed double-digit win totals in his first three seasons in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Roos also guided Concordia to at least seven league wins in each of his first three years.

"It is with a heavy heart that I'm stepping away from the Cobber soccer program," Roos commented. "It has been a pleasure coaching at Concordia the past five years, but I know that this is the best decision for myself and my family.  I'm looking forward to future endeavors, but more importantly being able to spend more time with family."

Roos' best season came in 2014 when he guided the Cobbers to an 8-1-2 finish in the MIAC which was good for second place in the conference standings. Concordia went on to compete in the NCAA tournament that season and finished with a 13-5-3 record.

"I want to thank all of the great coaches and staff that I've been fortunate enough to work with," Roos added. "More importantly I want to thank all of the talented student-athletes past and present that showed up with a selfless attitude and tireless effort every day."

Concordia went 5-10-3 overall and 2-8-1 in MIAC play in 2017. The Cobbers were 3-6-0 at home and 2-3-2 on the road.

Bretherton stated that a search for the next Concordia women's soccer head coach will begin immediately.
