A Fitting Season Ender

WINONA, Minn. (10/28/17)--- It was only fitting that Concordia's final game of the year featured shutouts and overtime. The Cobbers entered their last game of the year having played in14 shutout contests and six overtime games.

Concordia and St. Mary's continued that trend in Winona as they battled through a double overtime 0-0 tie on Saturday.

Concordia finishes the year with a 5-10-3 overall record and a 2-8-1 mark in the MIAC. St. Mary's ends with a 5-11-2 record in all games and a 0-9-2 slate in league play.

The Cobbers' best offensive output in the game came in the second overtime session when they put up three shots in the 10-minute period. That was one more than they had in the 90 minutes of regulation and through the first overtime session.

The best of the three chances for Concordia came off the foot of senior Rachel Osmundson who hit the post in the 106th minute of play. Kalli Baarstad had the other two opportunities for the Cobbers. CC also had one of its five corners in the game in the second overtime.

Concordia was outshot 8-5 in the game but the Cobbers held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Baarstad's two shots in the second overtime led Concordia. Osmundson, Hannah Sandin and Rachel Nemer had the other shots for CC.

Cobber goalie Maddy Reed made three saves to earn her sixth shutout of the season.

OVERTIME SUCCESS: Concordia played in seven overtime games and had an impressive 3-1-3 record in those contests.
