Second-Half Goals End Win Streak

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/08/16)—The final 22 minutes of Concordia's game with Carleton proved costly for Concordia as they allowed two goals after the back-and-forth game was tied at 1-1.

The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Cobbers. CC is now 3-6-3 in all games and 1-4-1 in league play. Carleton wins for the second straight Saturday and moves their overall record to 2-8-2. The Knights are now 2-3-1 in the MIAC.

Carleton took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal in the 34th minute of play. The Cobbers would then tie the game just over six minutes into the second half. Concordia's leading scorer, Paige McCullough, would add to her career-best point total when she finished off a passing combination set up by Emily Wendorff and Emily Payne.

The goal at 51:33 was McCullough's fifth of the season and gives her 18 points for the year.

Carleton would connect on the game-winning goal at the 68:19 mark and then add an insurance tally at 74:53.

The game would then turn into a midfield contest as the team's combined for only two total shots, and one corner kick, in the final 15 minutes of play.

Carleton held a 12-9 edge in total shots and a 12-5 edge in shots on goal. McCullough had a team-best three shots with two on frame. Wendorff took two shots and both were on target while Payne also had two shots in the game.

Cobber goalie Maddy Reed made nine saves in the game and has 48 for the season.          

ANOTHER PAIGE IN THE CAREER RECORD BOOK: Paige McCullough has five goals and eight assists for 18 total points on the year. She is tied for the lead in the MIAC in assists and is seventh in total points. Her 18 points is a single season career high. He previous best came last year when she had 15. McCullough has now recorded at least one point in six of the team's past seven games.
