Early-Game Stumble Costs Cobbers

Moorhead, Minn. (9/19/15) --- The Cobbers conceded a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of their 2015 home opener and lost 2-0 to Macalester on Saturday afternoon. 

Macalester's won the game with their opening-game push. Concordia wasn't able to get on track in the offensive end and fell for the first time in conference play. The Cobbers are now 3-3-0 overall. Macalester ups their overall mark to 2-1-1. The Scots are now 1-1-0 in the MIAC.   

At the 3:53 mark Michaela McGonigle snuck in an unassisted goal and nearly seven minutes later Lily Jilk scored at the 9:53 mark giving the Scots a 2-0 advantage in the first half. 

The Cobbers struggled to get inside the box and managed 10 shots throughout the entire game. Emily Wendorff had four shots on goal for Concordia. 

Cobber goalie Elizabeth Bitzan made eight saves in the game and now has 39 saves in her six games this season.   

STAT STUFF: The Cobber women came into the game being outshot 68-41 and were outshot 18-10 on Saturday. 

SOUND SMART WITH YOUR FRIENDS: Concordia did not have a corner kick for the whole game. 

WHAT'S NEXT? Now standing at 1-1 in conference play, the women will hit the road with the men's team for a non-conference game at Buena Vista tomorrow afternoon.  It will be the first meeting between the programs in school history.
