Marta Prosinski Earns MIAC Elite 22 Award

Moorhead, Minn. (11/13/14)-- Concordia senior midfielder Marta Prosinski became the school's first recipient of the MIAC's Elite 22 award program. Prosinski was named the MIAC's Elite 22 Award for women's soccer as part of the award presentation following the MIAC Playoff championship game on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The MIAC Elite 22 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The award was established prior to the 2013-14 academic year.

Modeled after the NCAA Elite 89 Award, the MIAC Elite 22 Award for women's soccer is presented to the individual with the highest GPA on the active roster at the MIAC Playoff championship contest. The winner must be a sophomore, junior or senior and in at least his or her second season of competition with their current team.

Prosinski carries a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in nursing. Hampered by injuries this season, she has played in only 16 of the 20 games for the Cobbers this season. Prosinski has two goals and two assists for six points in 2014.

Prosinski has played in 78 games in her career at Concordia and has 15 goals and five assists for 35 points. She has eight game-winning goals in her career and had recorded 81 total shots.

Prosinski helped Concordia earn its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Cobbers will be making its fifth trip to the national playoffs in the last six years when they play Aurora (Ill.) at Lake Forest (Ill.) on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
