All Equal In Northfield

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/27/14)— No.14-ranked Concordia scored a goal in the first half, but then conceded the equalizer in the second and went on to tie St. Olaf 1-1 in double overtime.

The Cobbers remain unbeaten in their last six games and still haven't suffered a loss in league play. Concordia is now 7-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the MIAC. The Oles come away with their first tie of the season and move to 1-6-1 in all games and an even 1-1-1 in the league.

Sophomore Paige McCullough gave Concordia a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play when she connected on her first goal of the season. Elizabeth Robinson collected the assist on the play.

Concordia outshot the Oles 8-5 in the first half.

St. Olaf scored the game-tying goal at the 48:05 mark of the second period. The teams then traded play in the midfield with few quality chances being shown on either side of the field.

CC held a 5-4 edge in shots in the second half. Neither team was able to muster a shot in the first overtime. The Oles then came up with the only shot on goal in the two overtime periods when they fired a ball on frame in the final minute of play in the second overtime session.

The Cobbers finished the game with a 14-12 advantage in total shots. The teams both had eight shots on goal for the 110 minutes of play. CC held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Robinson had game highs in shots and shots on goal. She finished with four total shots and three shots on goal. 

Concordia goalie Elizabeth Bitzen made seven saves and is now 7-1-1 on the season.

CC will return home to face Augsburg in another crucial MIAC match-up on Wednesday. Oct. 1 at 4 p.m.
