Cobbers Inch Up To No.16 In National Rankings
MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/16/14)—Concordia continued its slow climb up the national rankings. The Cobbers inched up one more spot and are now ranked 16th in the latest national Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll.
Concordia was ranked 17th in last week's NSCAA Division III poll and then climbed one spot after blanking Lawrence (Wis.) 3-0 on Saturday. It is the third straight week the Cobbers have been in the top 25 of the nation. CC entered the national rankings on Sept. 2 at the No.18 spot.
The Cobbers are currently 4-1-0 on the season. All four of the team's wins this season have been by a shutout. Concordia has outscored its opponents by a combined margin of 7-4 for the year.
Concordia has nine players with at least one point on the year. Rochelle Hickerson and Emily Wendorff are tied for the team lead with five points. Wendorff had a three-point game on Saturday. Hickerson and Elizabeth Robinson lead CC in shots with 11 each. Robinson has a team-leading seven shots on goal. Cobber goalie Elizabeth Bitzan has recorded five shutouts in the past seven games she has played in a streak that dates back to last season. She now has a 0.94 career GAA.
