A Couple Of Tricks And A Whole Lot Of Shots

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (10/19/13)—Elizabeth Robinson and Laura Prosinski both recorded a hat trick and helped Concordia roll to a 10-1 win at Dominican University (Ill.) on Saturday.

The 10 goals is the most by a Cobber team since the 2009 season when they beat UW-Superior by an identical 10-1 score. It is Robinson's second three-goal game of the season while Prosinski, the league's reigning Player of the Week, earns her first collegiate hat trick.

The goals came in a flurry after the first 12 minutes of play. Concordia scored four goals in a span of 17:20 midway through the opening period of play. Robinson started the scoring spree with her first goal of the game at 13:20. Prosinski followed with a goal at 19:16 before Robinson added her second in the 22nd minute of play. Sadie Hayes had assists on the first two CC goals of the game. Sophomore defender Morgan Holm capped the scoring in the first half when she netted her first collegiate goal at the 30:40 mark.

Concordia stumbled out of the block in the second half, conceding a goal at the 29-second mark. The Cobbers responded by scoring a goal just over three minutes later then added a second at 50:11 and tacked on two more before the half was less than 14 minutes old.

Robinson scored the first goal of the second period to complete her hat trick and then Prosinski followed with two straight tallies to record her three-goal game. Gina Weiss earned her first goal of the season at 58:41 to push Concordia's lead to 8-1.

The only thing left was for a pair of Cobber players to record their first collegiate goals. Christi Brauer got on the score sheet with her first goal at 66:06 and then Paige McCullough finished off the scoring with a goal at 80:35.

Concordia wound up outshooting the Stars 47-4 in total shots and 24-2 in shots on goal. The 47 total shots are the most this season and most since the 1996 season.

Robinson's three goals give her a team-leading 11 for the season. She has 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. She is currently third in the MIAC in both goals and total points. Prosinski now has five goals on the year and is third in both goals and total points.

The Cobbers split the goalkeeping duties. Elizabeth Bitzan started the game and played the first 64:55 while Sarah Fleissner came in and made one stop in the final 25:05.

Concordia will continue with its mid-semester break trip in Illinois when they play at Aurora on Monday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
