Cobbers Back In Top 25

Cobbers Back In Top 25

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/09/12)—Concordia slid back into the top 25 of the nation on Tuesday. The Cobbers re-enter the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll in the No.23 spot.

In addition to being ranked 23rd in the nation, Concordia is now ranked second in the North Region. The poll took into account games played through Sunday, Oct. 7 and did not reflect the Cobbers' double overtime loss to nationally ranked Wheaton on Monday.

Prior to Monday's loss, the Cobbers were 7-2-1 and had won four straight games. The reason for the jump in the rankings for Concordia was due to their two one-goal wins on the road over quality opponents. CC posted a pair of 2-1 victories of regionally-ranked teams Macalester and Augustana (Ill.).

As well as their 7-2-1 overall record, Concordia is 3-1-1 in non-conference wins with quality wins over UW-Whitewater and Augustana. The Cobbers are currently leading the MIAC standings with a 5-1-0 record.

The Cobbers will have a pair of tough games over the weekend as they play at Bethel on Saturday and then host regionally-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Sunday. The Royals are currently in second place in the MIAC standings, only two points behind Concordia while the Blugolds are ranked fifth in the latest NSCAA North region poll.
