And Here's To You Miss Robinson

WINONA, Minn, (9/29/12)—Concordia scored three goals in a span of 10:33 at the end of the first half and went on to beat St. Mary's 4-0 in Winona. Liz Robinson scored two of the three first-period goals and assisted on the other to help the Cobbers win for the fourth time in the last five games.

With the win, and a loss by St. Thomas, the Cobbers claim sole possession of first place in the MIAC standings. CC is 4-1-0 in their first five conference games. Concordia is 6-2-1 in all games. St. Mary's remains winless on the season and has now lost 14 straight games. The Cardinals are now 0-10 overall and 0-5 in league games.
 
Concordia dominated the host cardinals from the very first kick as they posted eight shots before they went on their scoring blitz. The Cobbers had five shots on goal before Robinson scored her first goal of the season at 31:18. Robinson then set up Gina Weiss for her second goal of the season at 37:27. Weiss was able to collect the pass and then knock her shot inside the far post before the SMU goalie to get to the ball. Robinson capped off the trio of goals when she poke home a rebound after senior All-American Sarah Rounds had hammered a shot on goal that was stopped by the Cardinal goalie.

Sophomore Marta Prosinski finished off the scoring when she scored her first goal of the year at the 87:25 mark. Sadie Hayes was credited with her first collegiate assist on the play.

Concordia was never pushed in the game and wound up outshooting St. Mary's 38-8 in total shots and 20-3 in shots on goal.

Ali Nelson stopped the three shots she faced in goal for CC and now has five shutouts on the season. Nelson also added to her career shutout total. She now has 34 career shutouts and needs three more to break the all-time school record of 36 set by Britt Reiersgord.

The Cobbers will stay on the road in the MIAC when they travel to St. Paul to face Macalester on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
