Prunty Is Nationally Ranked

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/20/19)---Concordia sophomore Jacob Prunty jumped into the Top 10 in the national individual rankings. Prunty is ranked 10th in the 133-lb weight class in the latest D3wrestle.com rankings.

It is the first time in his career that Prutny has been ranked in the Top 10 of the nation and he is the first Cobber wrestler to be ranked in the Top 10 since the 2017-18 season.

Prunty is 13-3 on the season and has won 12 of his last 13 bouts. All three of his losses have been by decision with two of the three coming at the hands of Division II athletes. His third defeat was against the top-ranked wrestler at 133 in Division III.

Prunty has finished in the Top 3 at all three of the multi-team invitationals this season. He won the 133-lb weight class at the Wis.-Eau Claire Invite, finished second at the North Central Invite and third at the Finn Grinaker Cobber Open. He has posted a 10-2 record in the team invitationals.

Prunty is 3-1 in matches in dual meets for the Cobbers. He posted a perfect 3-0 record at last weekend's Neb. Wesleyan Prairie Wolf Duals and helped Concordia record a 3-0 team record on the day.

Prunty's biggest win of the year came in the North Central Invite on Dec. 7 when he scored a 6-2 decision over the No.7-ranked wrestler in Division III.

Prunty will look to continue his success when the Cobbers compete in the University of Dubuque Jim Fox Duals on Saturday, Jan. 4.
