Moenkedick Releases Recruiting Class

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/16/18)---If Top 10 state meet finishes and multiple Top 5 finishes are high on your list for incoming recruits than the new class of Cobber student/athletes should put a smile on your face.

Concordia head coach Phil Moenkedick released his recruiting class which features 11 wrestlers who finished in the Top 6 at their state high school meet and five athletes who are multiple Top 5 finishers at the Minnesota State High School Meet.

"This is a very talented group of young men bringing a high level of potential into our program," Moenkedick said. "Along with what they bring to the wrestling room, Coach Osborn (assistant coach Quincy Osborn) and I are excited about what this group adds to the culture of our program."

The total number of incoming recruits is 13 which is one more than last year's class of 12. At the top of the recruiting class is Adam Jaeger from Belgrade-Brooten-Elros HS who is a Minnesota State High School Meet champion and also brings a pair of Top 3 state meet finishes to Concordia.

Jacob Prunty from Worthington HS, Tanner Schermerhorn of Frazee HS, Kaden Spindler from West Central Area HS and Bret Wilson of Rogers HS have all finished in the Top 5 at the Minnesota State Meet on more than one occasion. Schermerhorn and Spindler are both 3-time Top 5 finishers at the state meet.

The 2018-19 Cobber class features student/athletes from three different states. Besides the core of Minnesota student/athletes, this year's class also features wrestlers from Alaska and North Dakota. Aiden Jolley from Susitna Valley HS finished third at the Alaska State Meet while Innocent Nsengiyuma also placed third at the North Dakota State Class A Meet while competing for Fargo Davies HS.

"We are committed to having men who desire excellence in in their wrestling, academic, and personal lives and these individuals have those characteristics," Moenkedick added. "We have high expectations for what this group will contribute right out of the gates and cannot wait to get them on campus this fall."

The Cobbers open preseason camp in October and their first competition date is set for Saturday, Nov. 3 when they participate in the Jamestown Open.
