Wisconsin Woes

LA CROSSE (12/02/17)---It was a tough day in Wisconsin for Concordia as they dropped all three dual matches against Wisconsin schools in the Candlewood Suites Dual Meet hosted by Wis.-La Crosse.

The Cobbers started the day by dropping a 31-12 decision to Wis.-Stevens Point. Concordia then lost a pair of duals to ranked opponents. CC fell 41-6 to No.12-ranked Wis.-Whitewater and then lost 36-6 to host No.17-ranked Wis. La Crosse.

The three losses knock Concordia's dual-meet record to 1-4 on the season.

Seniors Aaron Dick and Joe Heinz were the only Cobber wrestlers with more than one win on the day. Dicks went 2-1 at 133 while Heintz was 2-1 at 165.

Dick won his first and third matches of the day. He was able to post a 21-6 technical fall in the opener against Bobby Uttecht of Stevens Point. Dick then capped his day by scoring a 9-5 decision against Quinn Miracle of La Crosse.

Dick is now 8-6 on the season.

Heinz, who was appearing in only his second meet of the season, lost his first match but then rebounded to win his last two. He recorded a pin against Whitewater to earn the team's only points against the Warhawks and then won 4-2 over Logan Schlough of La Crosse.

The two victories give Heinz six on the season and he is now 6-2 in his eight matches of the year.

Adam Presler and Ben Baumgartner recorded the other two individual wins and both came in the match against Stevens Point to start the day.

Presler won 10-8 at 141 against the Pointers at 141 to give the Cobbers an 8-3 lead after three matches. Baumgartner stepped on the mat next and went on the offensive to take a 12-3 lead against Stevens Point. Unfortunately that would be the final win of the first dual as the Pointers took the final six bouts of the dual.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will return home to host its first home dual meet of the season. The Cobbers will square off against Northern State on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
