A Fourth Straight Top 15 Finish At Nationals

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (3/16/13)—Jake Long and Tom Bouressa finished off their All-American performances at the NCAA National Meet by posting a pair of top 6 finishes. The two helped Concordia finish in a tie for 13th place in the final team standings – the fourth straight top 15 finish at nationals for the Cobbers.

Long, who went 2-1 on Friday, also posted a pair of wins on Saturday. He started the day with a 7-4 decision over No.4-seeded Emanual Ajagbe of Delaware Valley. It was Long's second win against a top 4 wrestler in as many matches. Long then fell 14-3 against Vincent Pisani of York before rebounding to beat Jorge Lopez 6-2 in the fifth-place match. Long finished the NCAA Meet with a 4-2 record which upped his season record to 21-10. It is the first time in his career that he has won 20 matches in a single season. Long now has 48 career wins in his three seasons in maroon and gold.

Bouressa capped his outstanding career by placing sixth at 285. He earns his second All-American honor making him only the fourth wrestler in program history to win more than one NCAA All-American award.

Bouressa started his second day by beating Ryan Fank of Wartburg 5-0. He then lost a pair of tough hard-fought matches. He fell 5-1 to No.-seeded James Buss of Loras and then dropped a 6-4 decision at the hands of No.5-seeded Anthony Edgren of UW-Whitewater. Bouressa finished his 2013 NCAA Meet with a 3-3 record. He ends the season with a 26-7 record. His 26 wins ties a career high for most wins in a year. Bouressa ends his four-year career with a 71-29 overall record.

As a team, the Cobbers finished with 21.5 total points. It is also the fourth straight season they have recorded at least 20.0 points at the NCAA Meet.
