Cobbers Move Up One Spot - Now Ranked 11th

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/08/13)— Buoyed by their strong showing at the Gator Duals in New Orleans, Concordia climbed one spot in the latest NWCA national rankings and is now in the No.11 spot in all of Division III.

The Cobbers are one of three MIAC schools that are ranked in the top 30 of the country. Augsburg is currently fourth while St. John's is No. 29.

Despite having a 3-4 dual-meet record, head coach Matt Nagel likes where is team is at in the season. "It's all a part of the process to get our guys peaking at the end of the season," stated Nagel. "We have been wrestling tough Division II and NAIA competition so when we get towards regionals are athletes will be confident having faced high-level competition.

Concordia's biggest win of the year came against Luther at the Gator Duals. The Cobbers beat the Norse 26-16 on Dec. 16. Luther is currently ranked in the NWCA poll.

Concordia has only one wrestler ranked in the top 10 of the weight-class rankings. Senior Tom Bouressa is No.7 at 285. Bouressa, a 2011 All-American, is 10-2 on the year and one of four CC wrestlers to have a double-digit win total for the season. Fellow senior Josten Coleman leads the team with 15 victories.   

The Cobbers will continue their tough dual-meet schedule when they host Division II University of Mary on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.
