Cobbers Split At Augsburg
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (12/04/21)---Concordia couldn't duplicate its opportunistic goal-scoring ability from Friday night and lost 3-0 in the series finale at Augsburg.
The Cobbers put up more shots on goal on Saturday, than they did in their 3-2 win in the series opener but couldn't get on the board as they were shutout for the first time this season.
The loss drops Concordia's overall record to 5-4-0 on the year. CC is 2-4-0 in the MIAC. Augsburg ends its 3-game winless streak and is now 2-5-1 in all games and 2-3-1 in league play.
The Auggies earned the win by scoring a pair of goals 51-seconds apart at the back end of the first period. They scored a power play goal at 14:32 and then added a second at 15:32.
Concordia was outshot 21-4 in the first 20 minutes of play, but then rallied to outshoot Augsburg 19-14 in the final 40 minutes of play.
The power play fortunes were reversed on Saturday. After holding the Auggies scoreless in their seven player-advantage situations on Friday, The Cobbers went 0-for-6 on the power play on Saturday.
Jordie Egerdahl, Brooke McMillen and Brenna Mjoness all had three shots to lead the CC offense.
Junior goalie Kiana Flaig made 32 saves on the game, and finished the series with 68 stops. Flaig now has 170 saves on the season which is third most in the MIAC.
