2 Goals In 1:47 Swings The Momentum

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/24/20)---Concordia went back-and-forth with No.9-ranked Hamline for the first 14-minutes of the first period but then the Pipers scored two goals in a span of 1:47 to seize control of the game. Hamline then scored three goals in each of the second and third periods to close out the 8-0 score line.

The Cobbers had four of their six shots in the first period in the opening 12:30 of play and had a couple of quality chances from in close before Hamline four their offensive legs and scored the opening goal of the game at 14:18. Th second goal came at the 16:31 mark and helped HU take a 2-0 lead into the first break.

Hamline would score one goal in the first five minutes of the second period and then added two more in a span of 2:31 starting at the 12:26 mark. The Pipers would finish off the scoring with three power play goals in the third period.

Concordia finished with 17 shots in the game but conceded at least 20 shots on goal in each period and was outshot 62-17.

The Cobbers were held scoreless in their two power play attempts while the Pipers were 3-fo-4 with the player advantage.   

Senior captain Ally Wiitala came up with a team-high three shots on goal in the game. She had one of the best chances for the Cobbers in the first 14 minutes of play but was denied by the goalie on a partial breakaway from the right wing.

Concordia used two freshman goalies in the game. Kiana Flaig started the game and played the first two periods. She made 36 saves. Skylar Ackerman made her first collegiate appearance to start the third period and made 18 saves.
