STORY LINE: Megan Dondelinger scored the only goal of the weekend for Concordia but it was enough to come away with a 1-1 overtime tie against No.2-ranked St. Thomas. Dondelinger scored at 8:05 of the third period to tie the game and give the Cobbers a point in the league standings.
RECORDS: Concordia hasn't been swept in an MIAC series this season and is now 9-7-3 overall and 6-3-3 in league play. The Cobbers have 15 points in conference play and are currently tied for fourth place. St. Thomas remains unbeaten this season. The Tommies are 16-0-2 in all games and 10-0-2 in the MIAC.
THE MOOSE IS LOOSE: Cobber freshman goalie Emily Musielewicz had a big weekend. She made 31 saves on Saturday and kicked aside 62 of the 65 shots she faced in the series. In the series finale, Musielewicz let up a goal at 12:25 of the first period and then stopped the final 26 shots she faced in the game.
SHE LOVES THE POWER PLAY: Megan Dondelinger was able to finally get Concordia on the board when she scored a power play goal in the ninth minute of the final period. Megan Mohr and Kaitlyn Page picked up the assists on the lone goal of the weekend for CC. The goal was Dondelinger's seventh of the season and four have come on the power play. Dondelinger has scored three of the team's six goals in the last five games.
STAT STUFF: St. Thomas held a 32-17 edge in shots on goal. Megan Dondelinger and Ally Wiitala both had a team-high three shots on target. CC was 1-for-3 on the power play and held St. Thomas scoreless in their two man-advantage situations.
PENALTY KILLERS STEP UP: Concordia held the Tommies scoreless in five power play opportunities on the weekend. The Cobbers have excelled on the penalty kill since the middle of December. CC hasn't allowed a power play goal in the last four games and has held opponents to just one PP goal in the last 19 attempts.
UP NEXT: Concordia will now have a 4-game road trip. The Cobbers will travel to St. Paul for a 2-game series with No.7-ranked Hamline. The Cobbers and Pipers will square off on Feb. 1-2 at the TRIA rink. Hamline is unbeaten in its last 16 games and is 15-1-3 overall and 9-1-1 in the MIAC.
