Overtime Win x 2 = Series Sweep

STORY LINE: For the second straight game Concordia scored in overtime to beat St. Catherine. Sophomore Callie Fagerstrom scored with :04 seconds remaining in OT to give the Cobbers a 4-3 win on Saturday. The double OT victories give CC their second straight series sweep over the Wildcats.

RECORDS: Concordia wins for the second straight time to even their season record at 2-2-0. St. Catherine is now 2-3-0.

OVERTIME SUCCESS: Concordia is 2-0 in overtime games this year which is two more OT victories than the team had in all of last season. In 2017-18 the Cobbers played in six overtime games and went 0-1-5.   

CALLIE-FORNIA DREAMING: Callie Fagerstrom continued her standout sophomore season as she scored two goals, including the game winner in the win on Saturday. Fagerstrom has now scored four goals on the season and has a total of five points. Her four goals is tops on the team and she is tied for third in the MIAC in goals scored this year. Fagerstrom has scored at least one goal in three straight games.

FLEMMING SCORES FIRST: Junior Amanda Flemming scored the game-winning goal on Friday night and then started the scoring on Saturday when she netted an even-strength goal at 4:53 of the first period.

ALLY ADDS ANOTHER: The final Cobber goal came courtesy of junior Ally Wiitala who gave Concordia a 3-2 lead at the end of the second periods. It was Wiitala's first goal of the season and her third career goal.

THE MOOSE IS LOOSE: Freshman goalie Emily Musielewicz got her first collegiate start and recorded her first collegiate victory. Musielewicz made 23 saves in her college debut.

PENALTIES PILE UP: Concordia and St. Catherine only had six total penalties on Friday night but that changed on Saturday when the teams combined for 15 penalties. The Cobbers were called for five infractions as opposed to 10 for the Wildcats. CC went 1-for-7 on the power play while St. Catherine went 1-for-8.

STAT STUFF: Concordia outshot St. Catherine 32-23 in the game but was outshot 6-1 in the overtime period. The Cobbers had at least 10 shots in all three periods in regulation and held 7-shot advantages in the second and third periods.

UP NEXT: Concordia returns to Moorhead to host their hgome opener next weekend. The Cobbers will face Bethel on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 17. Both games will be played at the Moorhead Sports Center. The Royals are 1-4-0 on the season and were swept by Augsburg this weekend.
