Another Weekly Honor For Klug

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/16/17)—The accolades continue to pile up for Concordia as they continue to win and stay at the top of the MIAC standings. Senior goalie Andrea Klug earned her second MIAC Player of the Week award this season after stopping 52 of the 53 shots she faced in the Cobbers' sweep at Hamline.

The back-to-back wins mark the first time that the Pipers have been swept in a two-game series all season long.

Concordia is now 10-4-1 overall this year and tied atop the MIAC standings with a 7-1-0 record. The Cobbers have now earned Player of the Week honors in four of the eight weeks this season. Klug and fellow senior Jess Nelson have each won the award twice this year.

The MIAC weekly honor is also the fourth time in her career that Klug has come away with the award.

Klug's stellar shot-stopping ability helped Concordia post 3-1 and 3-0 wins at Hamline on Friday and Saturday. She stopped 23 shots in the opener and helped CC blank the Pipers on the power play as they went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Klug was perfect on Saturday making 29 saves and helping the Cobbers win their fifth straight conference game. In that five-game stretch Klug has only allowed two goals.

Klug leads the MIAC in overall wins (9), shutouts (3) and minutes played (846:44). She is fourth in goals against average (2.13) and second in winning percentage. In league games Klug is third in goals against average (1.86) but still leads in wins (7) and is second in minutes played (483:37).

Klug will look to continue her hot streak when the Cobbers host Augsburg in a key MIAC match-up on Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21. The Auggies are also 7-1 in the MIAC and 11-4-0 overall.
