MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/09/17)--- The team outcome wasn't what Concordia wanted last weekend but senior Jess Nelson was rewarded for her impressive offensive output.

It is the second time this season that Nelson has earned the conference weekly award. She was also named the Player of the Week on Nov. 7. Nelson is the only MIAC student/athlete to win the award more than once this season.

Nelson had both goals in Concordia's 4-2 loss at national-ranked River Falls on Friday. She gave the Cobbers a 1-0 lead just 3:25 into the two-game series. The Falcons then scored three straight goals in the first period before Nelson added her second goal of the game late in the second period.

In addition to her three goals on the weekend, Nelson also had a team-high seven shots on goal.

Nelson now has a team-high nine goals and 14 points. Her nine goals are a single-season career high. Nelson is now second in the MIAC in points and tied for second in goals.
