Davis Goes National

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/16)—Tori Davis finished off the early-week award presentations by being named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week.

The honor goes to only six players in all of Division III and comes on the heels of Davis being named the MIAC Player of the Week.

Davis becomes the second Cobber player to earn the national weekly accolade. Junior goalie Andrea Klug was named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week on Nov. 17 and Dec. 8.

Davis had a hand in six of the seven Concordia goals in the team's 4-2, 3-0 playoff-clinching sweep over St. Olaf on the weekend. Davis scored a goal and had two assists in the comeback win on Friday and then scored all three of the Cobbers' goals on Saturday.

Davis' six-point weekend almost matched her entire season output last year. She had seven points for her freshman season in 2015-16.

Her weekend was indicative of her play since the middle of January. In the last nine games Davis has scored 10 goals and has 13 points. She also has 15 points in the team's last 12 games.

Davis now has 16 goals and five assists for 21 points. She also has 14 goals and five assists for 19 points in Concordia's 16 MIAC games. Davis currently leads the MIAC in goals in all games, goals in conference games and game-winning goals. She leads the MIAC in points in league games and is second in overall points in all games.

On the national scene Davis is tied for 13th in goals scored in all of NCAA Division III. Her five game-winning goals has her tied for sixth in the nation in that statistical category.

Davis, and the rest of the Cobbers, will finish off the regular season when they play at Bethel on Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20. Concordia is tied with the Royals for second place in the league standings and the two teams are only one point out of first place. The Cobbers could finish anywhere from first to fifth place in the final conference standings depending on the outcome of games around the MIAC this weekend.
