Davis Reaps Weekly Reward For 6-Point Series

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/15/16)--- Tori Davis (So., Moorhead, Minn.) reaped the rewards of her six-point weekend as she was named the MIAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week.

Davis had a hand in six of the seven goals in Concordia's 4-2, 3-0 sweep over St. Olaf. She scored all three goals in Concordia's 3-0 win over St. Olaf on Saturday and also had a goal and an assist in the 4-2 comeback victory on Friday night.

It is the first MIAC Player of the Week honor for Davis and she becomes the third Cobber player to earn the award this season. Junior goalie Andrea Klug nabbed the honors on back-to-back weeks in November and senior forward Anna Westmark claimed the weekly award on Nov. 9.

Davis started her career weekend by kick starting the Concordia comeback on Friday night. The Cobbers allowed two goals in the first period to the Oles before Davis got CC on the board with an even-strength goal just 1:07 into the second period.

Davis then assisted on the game-winning goal midway through the period to give the Cobbers a 3-2 lead. She capped off her three-point night by adding a helper on the final goal of the game in the third period.

Davis was a one-player scoring machine on Saturday. She broke open a 0-0 tie midway through the second period when she wrapped the puck around the post and into the net after beating St. Olaf players to the puck from behind the net.

She then added a shorthanded goal in the third period and finished off her weekend by scoring the team's third goal of the game. Davis one-timed a rebound just under the crossbar to give CC a comfortable 3-0 lead which eventually led to the sweep of the Oles.

Davis now leads the MIAC in goals scored this season. She has 16 goals on the year after having only two in all of her freshman season last year. Davis also has five assists on the season and her 21 total points is one shy of the league lead.

In addition to topping the conference in goals, Davis also leads the league in power play goals and game-winning goals. She also leads the MIAC in points, goals, power play goals and game-winning goals in conference games.

Davis will look to keep her hot scoring streak going when the Cobbers play at Bethel in the final regular-season series of the year. Concordia and the Royals are tied for second place in the league standings.
