MIAC Player Of The Week x 2

MIAC Player Of The Week x 2

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/23/15)—The shutouts and awards just keep piling up for Concordia junior goalie Andrea Klug. After posting another back-to-back shutout weekend, Klug was named the MIAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Klug stopped all 42 shots she faced against St. Catherine in the team's 1-0, 3-0 sweep over the Wildcats this past weekend. Klug has now recorded four straight shutouts and has gone 250 minutes without allowing a goal. During her amazing streak she has stopped 100 consecutive shots.

The four consecutive shutouts is an MIAC record for the longest shutout streak by a single goalie. The 250 consecutive shutout minutes is also the longest shutout streak by a women's or men's goalie in Division III this season.

Klug's play helped Concordia sweep St. Catherine and move to 4-0 in the MIAC in conference play. It is only the second time in school history they have started the league schedule with four straight wins.

While Klug had minimal action on Friday, her real test came on Saturday where she turned aside 30 shots - the highest number of saves in the four-game shutout stretch. Klug made several point-blank saves when the Wildcats were on one of their seven power plays including a 5-on-3 situation for over one minute when CC was clinging to a 1-0 lead.

Klug, who is now 4-1 this season, has now lowered her season goals against average to 1.00 and raised her save percentage total to 96.2%. She is now second in Division III in shutouts and in the top 15 in the nation in goals against average, save percentage and winning percentage.

Klug will put her shutout streak on the line when the Cobbers host Marian (Wis.) in a non-conference series on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. Both games will be played at the Moorhead Sports Center.
