Gendreau Is An All-American & Laura Hurd Finalist

Moorhead, Minn. (3/19/15)—Senior Maddy Gendreau finished her playing career on Feb. 28 and three weeks later she continues to earn postseason accolades. Gendreau, who became the first Concordia player to be named the MIAC MVP, is now an All-American and Laura Hurd Division III Player of the Year finalist.

Gendreau was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) All-American First Team on Thursday. She was also a finalist for the Laura Hurd award as the top player in all of Division III. The award is named for Laura Hurd which honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Hurd. A 2005 graduate of Elmira, and a four-time All-American, Hurd died in an automobile accident shortly after graduation. She was the recipient of the AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005.

Gendreau becomes the second Cobber player in program history to earn All-American honors and first to earn All-American First Team honors. Katelyn Dold was the first-ever Concordia player to earn the top athletic honor. Dold was named to the ACHA All-American Second team in 2012 after leading Concordia to the NCAA Tournament.

Gendreau was one of the catalysts for Concordia's school record 10-game unbeaten streak during the 2015 season. That stretch helped the Cobbers earn their fifth consecutive MIAC playoff appearance.

Gendreau led the team in scoring with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points. She recorded at least one point in the last 11 games of the season and in 16 of the team's 26 games on the year.

Gendreau had five power play goals for Concordia during the year which was 12th best in all of Division III.

The 26 points in the season is a career high for Gendreau. She had 23 points in her freshman season and ended her career with 35 goals and 48 assists for 83 points.
