Gendreau Tabbed As MIAC Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/12/12)—Sophomore forward Madison Gendreau was named the MIAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week after her four-point performance in helping Concordia sweep St. Olaf last weekend.

It is the first time in her career that Gendreau has earned the league's weekly award and she becomes the initial recipient of the award for the 2012-13 season.

Gendreau had a hand in four of the six goals in the Cobbers' identical 3-2, 3-2 wins over the Oles on Friday and Saturday. She had a goal and two assists in the series opener and then added an assist in the second game.  Gendreau was a +3 for the two games at St. Olaf and is now at a +1 for the season.

Gendreau has five points in six games this season, which is the fourth-highest total in the MIAC. She is also third in the league in assists with four. Her four-point weekend in the conference-opening series puts her atop the MIAC list for the year.

Gendreau's stellar offensive play over the weekend has helped Concordia push its overall record to 3-1-2 on the year.

Concordia will host their home opener this weekend when they square off against Bethel on Friday and Saturday at the Moorhead Sports Arena. The Cobbers and Royal played a non-conference game on Nov. 3 with the Royals prevailing by a final score of 4-1.
