Unbeaten In Seven And Now Time For The Playoffs

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/25/12)—Brooke Rundell scored two goals and Tamara Twite stopped 26 shots as Concordia skated to a 5-1 win over Augsburg on Saturday. The victory secures sole possession of second place in the final MIAC regular-season standings and gives the Cobbers a home game in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

Concordia is now unbeaten in their last seven games and has not allowed more than two goals in a single game during that stretch.

The Cobbers scored four straight goals to start the game to record their 10th conference win of the season. CC finishes the regular season with a 10-3-5 mark which is a school record for the fewest losses in a conference season. The Cobbers also up their overall record to 14-4-5 marking the second straight season they have won at least 14 games.

Bekah Wright scored the eventual game-winning goal in the fourth minute of the second period and then Rundell put the game out of reach with her two scores at 5:35 of the second and then :18 of the third period. Five different CC players earned assists on the four goals.

After Augsburg finally got on the board in the final five minutes of play in the third period, Maddy Gendreau capped the scoring by earning her ninth goal of the year.
