Season Opener In Sartell

SARTELL, Minn. (9/02/18)---Concordia opened the 2018 season by competing in the St. Benedict Invite at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell.

The Cobbers had a pair of players finish under 170 for the two-day tournament and placed 11th in the final team standings. Concordia started the year with a team score of 349 and then finished with a 367 on Sunday.

Junior Katie Krueger and sophomore Bailey Klause were the under170 golfers for the Cobbers. Krueger opened the tournament with a career-best 79 and then posted an 84 on Sunday to finish at 163 which earned a tie for 17th place which was the second Top 20 finish of her career. Klause was five shots behind Krueger. She went out in 82 and then fell back to an 86 on Day 2 to end at 168 which kept her in the Top 30 of the tournament.

Katie Froemke was the next finisher for Concordia. She carded a two-day total of 186 (88-98). Following Froemke for the Cobbers was Jenna Pauly and Kaitlin Brown. The two were the only CC athletes to improve on Sunday. Pauly went 99-98 (197) and Brown was two shot back at 100-99 (199).     

UP NEXT: Concordia will host the Cobber Fall Invitational on Sept. 8-9 at the Wildflower GC in Detroit Lakes.
