Seniors Lead By Example

LAKE CITY, Minn. (9/14/14)—Concordia finished off the highly competitive Division III Classic by shooting a 372 which was good for 12th place in a tournament that featured all 11 conference teams.

The Cobbers were led by a pair of seniors for the second straight meet. Amy Mireault has been the team's No.1 golfer for two straight tournaments. She was the only CC golfer to improve from the first day to the second and came home with a two-day total of 169. She carded an 86 on Saturday but then improved by three shots to post an 83 and finish in a tie for 31st place. She was the only Concordia athlete to place in the top 50 of the meet which featured 88 golfers.

Fellow senior Katie Nelson matched Mireault's 86 on Day 1 but then stumbled on the second day and shot a 96. She finished at 182 and was tied for the No.55 spot in the tournament.

The sophomore/freshman duo of Hayley Johnson and Erin Pennington finished within one shot of each other to finish off the top 4 scorers for the Cobbers. Johnson went 92-94 and placed in a tie for 66th place with a total of 186. Pennington came home in 187 by firing an 88 and then a 99.

Concordia will get another chance on the course when they compete at the Minn.-Morris Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Pomme De Terre GC.
