Thompson Earns MIAC Weekly Award

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/20)---Concordia sophomore Autumn Thompson used a pair of 20-point performances in overtime wins to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors.

Thompson was named the conference player of the week by averaging 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 shots from outside the arc made in the Cobbers' overtime victories at home against St. Olaf and St. Catherine. The two wins helped Concordia jump into a tie for the sixth, and final, spot for the MIAC playoffs.

Thompson started her week by scoring 20 points, grabbing three rebounds and knocking down four 3-pointers in Concordia's 89-85 single overtime win over St. Olaf on Wednesday. She shot 35.7% (5-for-14) from the floor and 44.4% (4-for-9) from long range as she posted her third 20-point game of the season.

The most eye-opening stat of her game in the Cobbers' epic 4-overtime win over St. Catherine on Saturday was the fact that she played a game-high 57 minutes. That total is the most by a player in a single game in school history.

Thompson scored a career-high 26 points to help Concordia post a 94-85 victory over the Wildcats in four extra periods of play. She was 8-for-17 from the field, 4-for-9 from 3-point range and 6-for-7 from the foul line. Thompson also had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Thompson has now made 62 3-pointers on the year which is the second highest single-season total in school history. She is nine 3-pointers away from tying the all-time mark of 71 set by Cathy Johnson in 1991.

The two 20-point games up Thompson's season point average to 14.3 ppg. She is currently shooting a team-best 39.2% from outside the arc and is third best in field goal percentage at 42.7%.

Thompson will look to help the Cobbers in their quest for the MIAC playoffs when Concordia hosts Macalester on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7:15 p.m.
