Tough Times At St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/08/20)--- Concordia was outscored 24-6 in the third quarter and lost 79-53 at St. Thomas. The Cobbers inched their way back into the game with the Tommies before the halftime break but then UST went on a 19-4 run to start the second half and seal the victory.

The loss drops Concordia's record to 8-13 on the season. CC is 6-10 in the MIAC and tied for seventh place in the league standings. St. Thomas, who has only lost once since the start of the 2020 calendar year, is now 17-4 in all games and 13-3 in conference play.

Like the men's game in the first half of the basketball doubleheader in St. Paul, Concordia never led in the game. St. Thomas made the first field goal, the Cobbers tied the game on a Mary Sem layup and then UST went on a 20-8 scoring streak to end the first quarter and take control of the game.

The Cobbers were able to cut the lead to 11 points late in the second quarter but then St. Thomas rallied and exploded in the second half.
