Januschka Earns MIAC Player of the Week Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/26/15)—Concordia senior Erin Januschka was named the MIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week after missing only three shots and helping the Cobbers win two games last week.

Januschka went 15-for-17 from the floor and 8-for-9 from the free throw line as she shot a remarkable 88.4% for all 26 shots she attempted in Concordia's wins over Carleton and Hamline.

It is the first conference weekly award for Januschka and she is the first Cobber player to garner the honor this season.  She is also the first CC player to earn the award since the 2012-13 season when Emily Thesing was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Feb. 4, 2013.

Januschka  finished the week by averaging 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Januschka started her week with a perfect shooting performance in Wednesday's 68-38 win over Carleton. She was 8-for-8 from the field and 5-for-5 from the foul line and tied her career high with 21 points. Januschka also added three rebounds and two assists in the win.

Januschka was nearly as good in Saturday's 72-64 win over Hamline as she shot 7-for-9 from the floor and 3-for-4 for the free throw line. She finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. This season, Januschka ranks third in the MIAC in offensive rebounds (43), fourth in field goal percentage (50.8) and ninth in blocked shots (14). She averages 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.    

Concordia will put its two-game winning streak on the line when they host St. Benedict on Wednesday, Jan. 28  at 5:45 p.m. and Macalester on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
