A Fine Line Between Winning And Losing

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/10/14)—Concordia made only two of its eight attempts from the free throw line and three of its 11 shots from outside the 3-point line in the second half and lost 66-59. Despite the cold shooting, the Cobbers had a chance to tie the game in the final two minutes of play but were outscored 8-2 and lost by seven points.

Valley City made six of its eight free throws in the final minute of play to seal the victory. The Vikings were able to connect on shots when it mattered down the stretch. VCSU was 4-for-4 from the field in the final 4:30 of the second half.

The loss is the second in the last three games for Concordia as they fall to 5-4 on the season. The game was also the last non-conference game of the year for the Cobbers. CC pushed the lead to six points in the first half but the Vikings were able to finish the period on an 8-4 and Concordia took a one-point lead at 28-27 into the break.

Junior forward Olivia Johnson was a force inside all night and led the Cobbers during much of the second half. She finished with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. The 13 rebounds tie a career high for Johnson.
