Fisher Earns D3hoops.com All-Region Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/17/14)—Concordia junior guard Alley Fisher (Fargo, N.D./ Fargo South HS) was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Team it was announced on Monday. Fisher, who led the Cobbers team in scoring, 3-point field goals, 3-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage,  was placed on the All-Region Third Team.

Fisher becomes the 10th Cobber player to earn D3hoops.com All-Region honors in the past 11 seasons. Concordia and St. Thomas lead the MIAC in players honored with D3hoops.com All-Region honors. Both schools have had 10 all-region award winners in the past 11 years.   

The All-Region award comes on the heels of Fisher being named to the MIAC All-Conference First Team. It is the first time for Fisher to earn All-Region honors after garnering a conference postseason award for the second straight season. Fisher was one of six MIAC players to earn D3hoops.com All-Region honors. Courtney Euerle from MIAC regular-season champion St. Mary's was placed on the All-Region First Team while Hamline's Jordan Sammons, St. Thomas' Taylor Young and Bethel's Rachel Parupsky were second-team selections. The Tommies also had Maggie Weiers earn third-team honors.

Fisher finished the year by averaging 12.0 points in the team's 27 games. She scored in double figures on 17 occasions and the Cobbers were 16-1 when she scored at least 10 points in a game. Fisher had 56 3-point field goals on the year and shot 43.1% from behind the arc. She is 16th in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage. Fisher is in the top 10 in Division III in free throw percentage. She connected on 88.6% of her attempts from the foul line and had 13 games where she was perfect from the free throw line.

Fisher had a career-high 26 points in the team's win over Augsburg on Dec. 11. She recorded at least three 3-point field goals in 10 different games this season and knocked down six shots from behind the arc at St. Olaf on Jan. 7.
