On A Serious Roll Entering The Postseason

ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/22/14)—It's time to get the butter out because Concordia is on a serious roll heading into the MIAC playoffs. The Cobbers got double-digit scoring totals from five players and beat Hamline 86-64.

Concordia will now enter the postseason having won 15 of its last 16 games and has won by double digits in 10 of those contests.  The Cobbers are now 21-4 overall and finish the conference regular season with a 19-3 mark. It is the second straight year they have won 19 MIAC games and sixth time in program history they have won at least 19 league games.

The Cobbers led for almost the entire game and used a 27-7 run in the first half to turn a 7-7 tie game into a 34-14 20-point lead. CC would never allow the Pipers to get within 13 points from that point forward as they capped off the regular season with a 22-point victory.

Erin Januschka, Greta Walsh, Kelsey Walloch, Alexandra Lippert and Alley Fisher all had at least 10 points in the game for Concordia. The quintet combined for 67 of the team's 86 points (78.0%) in the game.

Januschka was 7-for-11 from the floor, scored 12 points in the first half, and finished with a team-high 18 points. That also ties her career high for points.  She also hauled down a career-high nine rebounds.

Walsh went 3-for-5 from outside the arc and had 16 points to go along with three steals. She has scored in double figures in seven of the last 10 games.

Walloch scored 11 of her 13 total points in the second half. She also grabbed eight rebounds and was 5-for-7 from the floor. Lippert was 3-for-6 from the floor and had 10 points to go along with four rebounds while Fisher was 7-for-8 from the free throw line and also came away with 10 points. Fisher leads the MIAC in free throw percentage (87.8%) and is 14th in the nation in that statistical category. The Cobbers are now 16-0 when she scores at least 10 points in a game.

The Cobber finished the game by shooting 45.6% (26-for-57) from the floor and 41.2% (7-for-17) from 3-point range. It is the eighth consecutive game that CC has made at least five 3-pointers in the game.  Concordia also attempted 32 free throws in the game and made 27 (84.4%). It is the fifth time in 2013-14 they have gone to the free throw line at least 30 times.

Hamline shot 32.3% (21-for-65) from the field and 31.6% (6-for-19) from outside the arc.

Concordia will now turn its attention to the postseason. The Cobbers will start their playoff push when they host an MIAC semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. CC will face whichever winner of the first rounds games has the best seed.
