Sorensen Earns All-American Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/01/13)—Concordia senior Tricia Sorensen was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American Honorable Mention Team. She was the only player from the MIAC to earn All-American honors.

Sorensen, who was a two-time MIAC All-Conference award winner, becomes the 19th player in the history of the program to earn All-American honors. She is the first player since Erica Nord in 2011 to claim the prestigious award.

Sorensen led the Cobbers in scoring and rebounding in 2013. She averaged 14.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Both numbers represent career highs for the forward. Sorensen scored in double figures in 22 of the 27 games she played in during the year. She had at least 20 points in four games and had a season high 23 points against Macalester Jan. 5.

Sorensen surpassed a pair of milestones during the season. She scored her 1,000th career point on Feb. 13 when the Cobbers clinched the MIAC regular-season championship and grabbed her 500th career rebound earlier in the season. Sorensen became just the 10th player in program history to score 1,000 points and collect 500 rebounds in a career.
