Thesing Earns All-Region First Team Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/12/13)—The award season continues to be kind to senior guard Emily Thesing. Two weeks after earning MIAC Most Valuable Player honors, Thesing was named to the D3hoops.com West All-Region First Team. She was the only player from the MIAC to earn first team honors.

Thesing becomes the first Cobber player to earn D3hoops.com First team All-Region honors since the website started handing out the award in 2005-06.

Thesing was one of the driving forces behind Concordia's rise to its first MIAC regular-season championship since 1989-90. She helped the Cobbers to a 21-7 overall record and a 19-3 mark in conference play. It was the most wins in league play in the past 23 years.

In addition to earning MIAC MVP honors, Thesing was named to the All-Conference Team for the second straight season. She started all 28 games for the Cobbers and averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.14 assists per game. Thesing made 53 three-pointers on the season to become only the fourth player in program history to record at least 50 made three-pointers in a single season. She finished her career with 115 made 3-point field goals which is the seventh highest total in school history.  

Thesing scored in double figures in 19 of the 28 games this season and had at least 20 points in five contests. She had a season-high 23 points against Bethel on Nov. 28. Thesing's season-high rebound total came in the NCAA Tournament game against UW-Stevens Point when she hauled down 10 boards. She had at least five rebounds in the final six games and 17 total games.

Thesing is now eligible to receive D3hoops.com All-American honors.
