MORRIS, Minn. (11/15/12)—Concordia gave up an 11-0 run midway through the second half against UM-Morris and lost 59-56 in the 2012-13 season opener. The Cobbers had a chance to take a lead in the final two minutes of play but went 1-for-6 down the stretch and lost by three.
Concordia was done in by their inability to make open shots from outside the arc. The Cobbers missed their final three shots from 3-point range and ended the game by shooting 29.4% (5-for-17) from long range.
The Cobbers had three players in double digits in points. Junior All-Conference forward Tricia Sorensen finished with a team-high 20 points. Alley Fisher added 15 points and Alex Lippert had 10. Concordia received all its scoring from its starting five players. The CC bench was outscored 12-0 in the game.
Concordia was unable to take advantage of its size underneath despite outrebounding the Cougars 51-42. The Cobbers also had an advantage in points in the paint (24-18) and second chance points (12-11).
Concordia will stay on the road as they travel north to Duluth to take on St. Scholastica on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m.
