Gavin Returns From Florida With MIAC Pitcher Of The Week Honors
MOORHEAD, Minn. (03/07/22)---Senior Megan Gavin (Cold Spring, Minn./ROCORI HS) brought back more than souvenirs and a week in the sun from Florida. Gavin also brought back a 4-1 record, a 1.51 ERA and 66 strikeouts which led to her being named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week.
The conference weekly honor is Gavin's fourth in her career. She won it twice last season on her way to earning NFCA All-Region Honors.
Gavin appeared in six of Concordia's nine games in Florida. She started five games and pitched in 37.0 innings. Gavin struck out at least 12 batters in four of her five starts and had a pair of 15-K performances during last week.
Gavin's top performance of the spring trip came against Regis (Mass.) when she didn't concede a run and only allowed one hit in 7.0 innings pitched. She struck out 14 Regis batters on the day and didn't allow a base runner until the fourth inning, and the only hit she allowed came in the sixth.
Gavin is now 5-1 on the season and has a 1.75 ERA in 44.0 innings pitched. She has 69 strikeouts which leads the MIAC and is second most in all of Division III.
Gavin continues to add to her career school-record K total. She now has 572 career strikeouts and 32 wins.
