No Answer For Nationally-Ranked Offense

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/02/14)—Concordia dropped a pair of games at No.17-ranked St. Thomas in the conference opener. The Cobbers fell 10-1 in the opener and then lost 25-1 in the nightcap. Both games were shortened due to the 8-run rule.

Concordia (5-14) was never able to stop the nationally-ranked Tommie offense in either game. The Cobbers gave up big innings in the first inning of both games and could never recover. CC allowed five runs in the opening frame of game No.1 and then conceded a 12-spot in the first inning of the finale.

Cobber freshman outfielder Madison Little had a hit in each game and finished the day 2-for-5.

Paige Beseman scored the lone run in the first game when she walked in the fifth inning and then came to score on a pair of St. Thomas errors.

Dominique Giesen came up with the only CC extra-base hit on Wednesday. She doubled to left field to start the second inning, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and then came across the plate on a ground ball off the bat of Kellie Morehouse.

The Cobbers will return home to host St. Benedict on Saturday, Apr. 5 at 2 p.m. on the football field inside Jake Christiansen Stadium.
