Jones Sets Honors Record; 3 Others Earn Awards

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/17/12)—For the third time in the past four years Concordia had four players earn MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office on Thursday. Junior Kaia Sele was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Kesley Jones and Joelle Link earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable mention honors. Senior Emily Salo was the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Sele and Jones have both earned all-conference awards before while Link was last year's team member to be placed on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Sele, who earns her second consecutive All-Conference honor, had a monster season as she finished second in the league in hitting with a .500 average in 22 league games. She led the MIAC in on-base percentage (.557), slugging percentage (.929), home runs (6), doubles (12) and total bases (65). Sele was also fourth in RBI (19). During the season she fashioned a record-setting 18-game hitting streak. She was also named the MIAC Player of the Week on two occasions. Sele hit successfully in 15 of the 22 conference games this season and had five multiple-hit games.

Jones becomes the first player in school history to earn conference postseason honors for four consecutive seasons. She was named to the All-Conference Team in 2010 as a sophomore and earned Honorable Mention honors in 2009 and 2011. Jones was the team's top pitcher in conference play and also finished with a .286 batting average in league play. She was ninth in the MIAC in innings pitched and tied for first in complete games. At the plate she had a .328 on-base percentage and drove in eight runs.

Link was second on the team in almost every offensive category. She finished with a .342 average in league play and had a .526 slugging percentage and a .405 on-base percentage. She was tied for fourth in the conference in doubles (8). The team's lead-off hitter, Link appeared in all 22 MIAC contests and had at least one hit in 15 games. She also had a team-high nine multiple-hit games including a 4-for-4 performance against Carleton on Mar. 31.
