Summer Vacation Comes Early

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (4/26/12)—Concordia's offense took an early summer vacation as they could only come up with seven total hits against Bethel and failed to score in the doubleheader. The Cobbers lost 8-0 in six innings in the first game and then dropped the second game 3-0.

The two losses push Concordia's losing skid to seven games. The Cobbers have scored just four runs in those seven games. CC now falls to 8-25 in all games and 6-14 in MIAC competition. Bethel wins for the fifth time in the last six games and improves to 15-21 overall and 9-9 in league play.

Concordia had four hits in the opener. Their biggest offensive chance came in the fourth inning when they came away with a pair of hits and had runners at second and third with only one out but failed to score. The Royals did most of their damage in the sixth, and final, inning. Leading 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, BU plated six runs on six hits.

Paige Beseman went 2-for-2 for Concordia in the opener. Kaia Sele and Ashley Tibbetts had the other base knocks for the Cobbers.

Concordia only came away with three hits in the second game and were held hitless from the second to the fifth innings. CC had single hits in each of the first, fifth and sixth frames but never put a runner past second base.

Sele, Kelly Tasky and Emily Salo hit safely in the nightcap. Sele went 2-for-6 in the doubleheader and has now hit safely in 30 of the team's 33 games this year.

The Cobbers will host their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on the day of the 2012 season. CC will square off against Macalester on Saturday, Apr. 28 at 1 p.m.
