Runner-Up Finish At Jamestown Invite

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (10/04/19)---Concordia posted its third Top 5 team finish of the season as they placed second in the 7-team Jamestown Invitational held at the 8K course at Pipestem Dam in Jamestown.

The second-place finish marks the first time the Cobbers have been in the Top 3 in the final team standings. CC had all five of their team-scoring runners finish in the Top 15 of the individual standings. Concordia also had a pair of Top 10 finishers. They finished with a team score of 53 which was 31 points in front of the third-place team.

Senior Eric Wicklund paced the Cobbers as he placed sixth in a time of 26:19. It marks the third time out of four meets he has led Concordia. It is also his second Top 10 finish of the year. Wicklund also placed sixth at the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet.

Junior Noah Kneeskern had his best meet of the season as he was the team's No.2 runner for the first time in 2019. Kneeskern covered the course in 26:58 which marks the first time he has broken the 27-minute barrier this season and the second time in his career he has gone under 27:00. He also accomplished the feat in his freshman season at the Jamestown Invite. Knneskern also recorded his first Top 10 finish of the year with a 10th-place finish.    

Jesse Middendorf continues to improve in his first year as a Cobber harrier. He was the team's No.3 finisher with a time of 27:08. In Concordia's last meet at Carleton, Middendorf ran the 8K course in 27:50 and crossed the line in 11th place. His time at Jamestown is a season best and a 42-second improvement from the last meet.

Munir Isahak and Tanner Olson were the team's final two runners who factored into the overall team score. Isahak was 12th in a time of 27:15 and Olson was two spots behind in 14th place after posting a mark of 27:39.

The Cobbers also had a group of seven runners finish in consecutive order from 17th place all the way to the No.23 spot. Connor Haugrud and Nolan Christenson led the septet. Haugrud was 17th at 27:55 and Christensen was 18th with a time of 28:04.

UP NEXT: Concordia will have another 2-week break, this time for the annual Homecoming weekend, and return to action on Oct. 19 when they compete in the Ron Pynn Classic at the University of North Dakota.
