Wicklund Leads Top 90 Trio

WAVERLY, Iowa (11/10/18)--- Junior Eric Wicklund led Concordia at the season-ending NCAA Central Region Meet. It was the second straight season that Wicklund has led the team at the region meet. Wicklund finished 70th at this year's meet which was a 6-place improvement over last year's finish.

Wicklund finished the 8K course in a time of 26:31 and helped the Cobbers finish 19th in the team standings.

Wicklund has improved on his finish in each of his first three seasons. He was outside the Top 100 as a freshman in 2016 and then jumped to 76th last season.

Wicklund was one of three Concordia runners to finish in the Top 90 at the meet. The last time that Concordia had three athletes finish in the Top 90 at the NCAA Central Region Meet was 2002.  

Sophomore Munir Isahak was the team's No.2 finisher at the region meet for the second straight year. He clocked a 26:41 and finished 83rd. He improved on both his time and finish from last season. In 2017, Isahak ran a 26:56 and finished in 94th place at the meet held at St. Olaf.

Freshman Nolan Christenson was the final member of the Cobber Top trio. He capped his first collegiate season by completing course with a mark of 26:53. His time earned a 89th-place finish.

Noah Kneeskern and Connor Haugrud were the final scoring members of the Concordia team. Kneeskern came home in 27:17. Haugrud, the most improved Cobber this season, was five seconds behind and finished in a time of 27:22. His time is over a full 1:30 improvement from last season when he completed the course with a mark of 28:57.
