Isahak Leads Cobbers At MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/27/18)---Sophomore Munir Isahak earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and led Concordia to a seventh-place finish at the conference championship meet held at St. Olaf.

The seventh-place finish is the best at the MIAC Meet for the Cobbers since the 2010 season when they also finished seventh.

Concordia finished with three runners in the Top 50 of the meet as they finished with 200 points which was 14 points shy of sixth place and six points ahead of the eighth-place finisher. The 200 points is the fewest by a Concordia team since 2010 when they had 198 points.

Isahak earns his first-ever conference honor. He finished 17th at the championship meet in a time of 26:27. He was only six seconds out of the Top 15 which would have earned him All-Conference honors. Isahak's finishing time was almost a minute faster than last year when he placed 55th as a freshman.

Freshman Nolan Christenson was the Cobbers' No.2 runner at the meet. He completed the 8K course in a time of 27:26 and placed 45th. His time is 49-seconds faster than what he posted earlier in the year on the same course at the St. Olaf Invite.

Eric Wicklund was right behind Christenson as he finished in 46th place in a time of 27:27. That time is a second faster than earlier in the season at the St. Olaf Invite.

Noah Kneeskern and Connor Haugrud finished off the Top 5 scoring runners for Concordia at the meet. Kneeskern crossed the line in 27:38 and was just outside the Top 50 in 55th place and Haugrud was eight seconds behind in 27:46. Both runners made over 5-second improvements from last year's conference meet at St. Olaf.

UP NEXT: Concordia will have a 2-week break before finishing off the season in Iowa. The Cobbers will compete in the NCAA Central Region Meet at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on Nov. 10.
