A Winning Season Opener

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/31/18)---Concordia placed four runners in the Top 10 at the season-opening Cobber Invite and won the team title for the second straight season.

The victory also gives first-year head coach Laura Januszewski her first collegiate meet win.

Concordia won the team title with a final score of 36 points. That was 24 better than runner-up Minn.-Morris.

The Cobbers were led by sophomore Munir Isahak who placed second with a time 16:07. He was the top collegiate finisher as former Cobber Tom Sederquist won the individual title with a mark of 16:03. It is the second straight year the Isahak has posted a Top 5 finish at the meet.

Junior Eric Wicklund also recorded his second straight Top 5 finish at the Cobber Invite. He came home in fourth place at 16:24 after winning the individual championship in 2017.

Sophomore Noah Kneeskern and freshman Nolan Christenson were the final two Top 10 finishers for Concordia. Kneeskern was eighth in 17:13 while Christianson was one spot back in ninth after crossing the line in 17:24.  

The Cobbers used another freshman as their final team scorer in the meet. Michael Kraimer came home in 17:41 and finished in 13th place. He narrowly beat out fellow first-year runner David Kelm who was 14th at 17:45.
