Wicklund Is Top 20 At MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/28/17)---Eric Wicklund added another accolade to his stellar sophomore season as he earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors at the conference championship meet.

Wicklund finished 19th at the MIAC Meet to earn his first-ever conference end-of-the-year award.

Wicklund's Top 20 finish helped Concordia place ninth in the overall team standings. The Cobbers finished with 240 points which was 15 ahead of 10th-place St. Mary's. Concordia's overall time for the Top 5 runners was 2:17:21 which was the fifth fastest in program history at the MIAC Meet.

In addition, all five of Concordia's scoring runners improved on their times from earlier in the year when the team competed at the St. Olaf Invite which was held on the same course of the MIAC Meet.  

Wicklund covered the 8k course in a time of 26:38 which was 5-seconds off of a Top 15 finish. His 19th-place finish is an improvement by 25 spots over his finish at the 2016 championship meet. His time is also the fastest by a Cobber in several years but this year the race was held at St. Olaf rather than the usual Como Park GC as in years past.

Wicklund's time is an improvement of 44-seconds over his time at the St. Olaf Invite earlier in the year.

Freshman Munir Isahak was the team's No.2 finisher in the race as he posted a time of 27:20 and was the No.55 finisher in the meet. His time is a 2-second improvement over his time at St. Olaf earlier in the season.

Brandon Quibell, Noah Kneeskorn and Erik Larson were the other three finishers for Concordia who counted in the Top 5 scoring places. All three finished within 12.4 seconds of one another.

Quibell clocked a 27:42 and finished in 71st place while Kneeskorn crossed the line in 27:45 and Larson came home in a time of 27:54.
