One Last Tune-Up

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (10/14/17)---- Running in their final invite before the MIAC Championship Meet. Concordia had a pair of runners finish in the Top 25 and placed fifth at the Ron Pynn Invite hosted by the University of North Dakota.

The Cobbers, who were the only Division III team at the meet, were led by sophomore Eric Wicklund and freshman Munir Isahak who both finished inside the Top 25. Concordia had a final team score of 139 at meet which was won by NCAA Division squad North Dakota State.

Wicklund covered the 8K course in a time of 26:01 and finished in 23rd place. It marks the fourth time in his five meets this season that he has been the team's No.1 runner.

Isahak continued his first year as a collegiate harrier by cementing his place as the team's No.2 harrier. Isahak was just behind Wicklund as he crossed the line in a time of 26:03. He was off of Wicklund's shoulder for a majority of the race and was the No.24 finished in the meet.

Concordia's third and fourth runners at the meet were also separated by only two seconds. Senior Brandon Quibell, who fought off a lower leg injury, ran a 26:40 and placed 33rd while freshman Noah Kneeskern clocked a 26:42 and was the No.35 runner in the meet.

Senior Nick Solheim gave Concordia five runners in the Top 40 of the meet. Solheim, the final member of the team's scoring contingent at the meet, finished in 39th place with a mark of 27:03.         
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have a two-week training period in order to get ready for the conference meet. The Cobbers will head to Northfield to compete in the MIAC Meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Olaf. Concordia finished in 11th place at last year's championship event.
